at 4:10 AM I was jolted from my blissful slumber by the intrusion of what felt like 2 megawatt flashlights. Amid the intense temptation to hurl profanities in the general direction of the piercing bulbs, I was granted twenty minutes to get ready, and then I was to put on a blindfold and await my doom....

and so I waited, for what felt like a very long time. I started to fall back asleep.
Then I was led down to the lobby where I was literally whisked off my feet and out the door by a nameless faceless entity who slung me over their shoulder and carried me out into the cold.

I was tickled, poked, spanked, and spun around and around until I needed to be held up. Finally I was seated on a bench to await the arrival of the "spaceship"....
My kidnappers thought this was all pretty funny.
I told them it was nice knowing them, since I'd have to kill them later.
They thought that was even funnier.
Finally the "spaceship" pulled up and I judged by the turns of the car that I was headed onto 128 South, and we drove for some time. I thought to myself (amid the pokings and bitings), where could they be taking me at 4:30 AM? The beach? no, we were going the wrong direction. But what was open so late/early? It could only be one place. Yes, I felt the familiar turn of the Endicott Street exit (combined with the force of my lovely RA pinning us all to the left side of the car) and knew our destination....
Yes, we were at Denny's, the 24-hour haven of college students everywhere. Finally I was permitted to remove the blindfold and look upon the faces of 10 of my closest friends, at least three of whom hadn't even been to bed at all that night. Surely 'tis a sick and twisted thing to pull me from my bed and my sleep, but it was quite possibly the best birthday surprise ever.
Thanks SO much Katie, Rebecca, Sunny, Jon, Dan, Mike, Levi, Chris, John, and Sarah (she's taking the picture)! I love you guys so much!!

So I survived my 20th birthday.
But what about next year????
